The Art of Storytelling

Join best-selling fantasy and science fiction author Ian Irvine on a practical and absorbing all-day workshop, The Art of Storytelling.
This workshop will focus on the six basic elements of storytelling that are critical for the creation of a strong story: want, obstacle, action, resolution, emotion and showing. The workshop will also deal with other key elements of storytelling such as the importance of conflict, how to create effective suspense, and how to create compelling and unforgettable characters. Finally, Ian will discuss how to solve common story problems. Participants may bring along a complete short story, or be prepared to write one during the workshop. Ian will read the stories and provide feedback.
