Writing Great Young Adult Fiction
In this exciting, practical full-day workshop, presented by well-known local author Sophie Masson, you’ll discover what makes good Young Adult fiction, and how it differs from children’s books as well as writing for adults. Explore what’s hot in YA fiction right now, and what publishers are looking for. And through a series of fun, useful exercises, find out how how to sharpen and pitch your writing for YA readers, including coming up with great concepts, exploring point of view, tone, language and dialogue, and developing characters and worlds. Bring paper and pens!
Full printed notes will be provided for this course. Participants may also bring samples of work for a short critique.
Sophie Masson is the award-winning author of over 60 books for children, young adults and adults. Her latest books (out April 2017) are the YA novel Jack of Spades (Eagle Books) and the picture book Once Upon An ABC (Little Hare).
