Booked In! Children and Young Adults' Literature Festival

For its fifth year, Booked In, the only children's literature festival in regional NSW will again be run in collaboration with the New England and North West sub branch of the Children's Book Council of Australia NSW Branch, the New England Regional Art Museum, and Reader’s Companion Bookshop.

Our featured guest this year is award-winning author, actor and filmmaker Tristan Bancks, who will be visiting local schools to talk to students, presenting an exciting writing workshop for aspiring local authors, featuring in a lively In Conversation bookshop event,plus launching the latest title from local publisher Christmas Press.

Local illustrator Kate Durack will also be visiting schools, and NERAM will be featuring a fabulous major exhibition by Australian Children’s Literature Laureate, author-illustrator Leigh Hobbs, with storytelling sessions around his books.

Writing From the Inside Out with Tristan Bancks
An in-depth writing workshop for keen writers wanting to take their work to the next level and excavate the stories locked inside them. This workshop goes beyond ʻGetting Startedʼ and plunges into Voice, Setting, Character Development, Conflict, Plotting, Analysis of Great Writersʼ Work and saying more by saying less.
Suitable for adults and teens.
When: Sunday May 14, 10:30—12:30

Cost: $55 for NEWC/NERAM/CBC members,
          $65 for non-members,

And launch of a new edition of Max Fatchen’s classic poetry collection for kids, A Pocketful of Rhymes, illustrated by local artist Kathy Creamer, and published by Christmas Press.
