Creative Hotspot Publisher Pitch

This is a fabulous opportunity for children's writers and illustrators at any stage of their careers and from anywhere in Australia to pitch their work in person as part of Artstate, Tamworth to two acclaimed New England-based children's books publishers, Christmas Press and Little Pink Dog Books.
This opportunity is offered by the New England Writers' Centre, which to celebrate Artstate is enabling a substantial discount to be applied to the cost of a pitch. You can choose to pitch to one or both publishers, with each pitch slot lasting ten minutes.

What the publishers want

Christmas Press is looking for
  • children's and YA fiction,
  • with particular emphasis on chapter books (illustrated fiction up to 6000 words, for 5-8 year olds);
  • junior fiction (up to 13,000 words, for 8-10 year olds) and
  • adventure fiction for readers 10-16 (up to 80,000 words).

You can see more about what they're looking for here.

They are not looking for picture book manuscripts, but are interested in looking at illustrators' portfolios for consideration for their illustrated fiction.

Little Pink Dog Books specialises in children's picture books only.
They are interested in looking at:
  • the work of writers
  • illustrator portfolios.

They do not publish children's novels or other long fiction for young readers.

Please note: neither Christmas Press nor Little Pink Dog Books publishes any works intended for adult readers.
