Deadly Secrets...

The events...

After last years successful program Deadly Secrets returns for 2017. This year we are offering a diversified program over two days, Friday the 16th of June and Saturday the 17th featuring Library talks, panel discussions, book signing and a writing workshop.

Our Guest Author
This years guest author is Emma Viskic.  Emma was the winner of the fiction category in the innaugual Thunderbolt Prize back in 2013. 
Her writing career has gone from strength to strength since then. 
Her first novel Resurrection Bay won the 2016 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Fiction and an unprecidented three Davitt Awards: Best Adult Novel, Best Debut and Readers’ Choice.

Emma will be at the Readers’ Companion bookshop to discuss her novels and sign copies purchased on the night. 
When: Friday 16th June at 5.30 p.m.
Where: Readers’ Companion bookshop in Beardy Street Mall, Armidale.
Cost: Free (refreshments will be served).  Booking not required.

Panel Session – Killer Short Stories
Featuring Emma Viskic, Bronwyn Parry (author ‘Storm Clouds’, ‘Sunset Shadows’) and Maryanne Ross (winner 2016 Thunderbolt Fiction Prize) discussing the art of the short story.
Plus 2017 Thunderbolt Prize for Crime Writing Launch.
When: Saturday 17th June at 10.30 a.m.
Where: Armidale Library. 
Cost:  Free! Booking not required.

Workshop: Show and Tell: Writing Captivating Stories
Emma Viskic will conduct a three hour workshop with a focus on writing emotionally engaging stories.  With examples and exercises, Emma will help you make your writing come alive.  This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and genres.
When: Saturday 17th June at 1.30 p.m.
Where: Armidale City Bowling Club
Cost: $55 for NEWC members
           $65 for non members
Booking must be made in advance (bookings close Wednesday 14th June)

New England Writers’ Centre Dinner

Join Emma Viskic and members of the New England Writers’ Centre for dinner.
When: Saturday 17th June at 7.00 p.m.
Where: White Bull Hotel
Cost: Each guest to pay for their meal and drinks on the night.
