Illustrate This with Fiona McDonald
Illustration is more than pretty drawings. It is the art (excuse the pun) of visually depicted or representing an idea — often someone else's.
It involves reading and understanding text, whilst working out what needs to be illustrated, learning how to show, not tell. This series of two-hour workshops with professional artist and illustrator Fiona McDonald will teach you the ins and outs of illustrating. Every participant gets one (1) free entry into the 2020 Illustration Prize. Just write: Illustration Workshop Entry when you submit your work. Session 1
Read between the lines. Learn how to interpret text and the art of storyboarding — essential knowledge for illustrators! Session 2 How to work in black and white. Not all illustrations have to be in colour. In fact a lot of them are black and white, from simple through to intricate pen drawings. Session 3 All the colours of the rainbow. The fun stuff! Get your paints, pencils, or crayons out and prepare to get messy! |
