Beetle Hunt @ The Blue Hole stories
We're hearing some lovely stories from the Beetle Hunt. We hope you return for more, as we will continue to add the stories over this next month. The Beetles will be at the Blue Hole until 29 May 2021 but you'd better be quick as the young hunters out there are taking them home as trophies (you're allowed to!)
We want everyone to enjoy the fun and hope that you'll share your stories with us.

It looks like you'd better be quick, because Fred (5yrs) as proven himself to be a Master Beetle Hunter!

Me and Fred (who is 5), went to the blue hole for some rock hopping and such.
We strolled down to the foot bridge and spotted a beetle rock under the bridge, which we jumped down and grabbed.
How strange! We thought maybe someone dropped it, and then we noticed the code on the back.
Fred asked if we could keep it, and I supposed we could. Maybe the river left it for us?
Well, off we hopped and had soon found another two beetle rocks, much to Fred's delight and surprise!
Then we found a red bellied black snake, then we found two more beetle rocks! This was getting exciting! We were on a beetle hunt!
Long story short, we came home with eleven beetle rocks! I suggested we leave some, but Fred was sure they were for keeping.
We ate our apples, came home, downloaded the code scanner, and here we are.
Thanks Trish, that was heaps fun!
Kylie and her family enjoyed an impromptu adventure and shared it with us. Thank you Kylie!

Hello Trish,
We were so excited to hear about your beautiful stones we went out to Blue Hole to find one. Such lovely motivation and we ended up doing the 6km walk and were so pleased to see water flowing and the plant communities so green and thriving.
We were lucky enough to see an amazing huge stick insect, an echidna, a baby snake and had a most excellent conversation together on the walk that might not have happened otherwise.
We found many Christmas Beetle rocks and were happy to bring one home. Thank you for a lovely impromptu afternoon ❤️ Kylie
Even local photographers are getting in on the hunt. Thanks for dropping us a note Ash!

What a cool project, thanks Trish!
I am a local photographer with a particular interest in macro work. I stumbled across the pretty little Beetle stone during my morning photo walk. I was really excited to get home and see what the QR revealed!
The theme really resonated with me as I have a particular interest in photographing insects.
