Pitch to the Publisher​

​Attention writers and illustrators of New England, NSW!

The NEWC has partnered with Riveted Press to bring you a unique opportunity.

We invite local writers and illustrators to submit a sample of their completed manuscript and/or portfolio.

​Submission is free but there is no guarantee of a pitch slot. 

ONE application per person.
​
NEWC's judges will undertake a review of all submissions to select applicants on the basis of the presentation of their summary & sample, to meet online, via Zoom, with Rowena Beresford of Riveted Press.

The judges' decisions are final.

Submit your manuscript or portfolio for a chance to pitch to Rowena Beresford, Riveted Press
There is an initial submission process: 1 July - 2 August.
Successful applicants will be scheduled for the pitch session.
Application does not guarantee a slot on the pitch calendar.

Application Process

Please review the list of what Rowena is looking for.   

When preparing your application, refer to the guidelines below:

Manuscripts

1. Prepare a summary of 500 words or less, with details of your manuscript, including: word count, genre, and target audience, and

​2. Prepare a sample of the manuscript you propose to pitch to Rowena (up to 1,000 words). 

File format must be .doc or .pdf

Illustration Portfolio

1. Prepare a summary of 500 words of less of your work and illustration style/preferences.

2. Prepare a separate file with a selection of images.

File format must be .doc or .pdf

​Then, 

Go to the submission form below. Use the text field to briefly introduce yourself and outline your pitch plan. Use the upload option to attach your Summary and Sample to your application.

REMINDER:  Applications are free.  There is ONE application per person. The initial application is a review and selection process. Submissions that do not follow the guidelines will be excluded. Applicants are not guaranteed a pitch slot.

The submission window for applications opens on Monday 1 July and closes on Friday 2 August

Applicants will be contacted as soon as possible to advise if they've been successful or not.

​Successful applicants will be offered a slot of time on Rowena's calendar between 26-29 August

The NEWC will coordinate with the selected writers and illustrators to schedule the Zoom meetings with Rowena.

The meetings will take place between Monday 26 and Thursday 29 August, 2024. 

This opportunity is exclusively for writers and illustrators resident in the New England Region.

​Rowena is the Managing Editor of Riveted Press, an independent publisher of award-winning books by Australian authors and illustrators. She has over 20 years of experience in publishing and particularly enjoys working with debut and emerging authors.

- Overly gruesome/graphic violence
- Noir
- Supernatural
- Romance with only a splash of mystery (happy to look at mystery with a splash of romance though!)
