New England Illustration Prize

Unfortunately, our grant applications have been denied.

We are unable to present a theme for 2025 Illustration Prize at this time.
Dear Illustrators,

We deeply regret having to announce that the New England Illustration Prize for Children's Picture Book Publishing has been deferred until further notice.

Despite our best efforts, the NEWC did not secure our modest funding grant from the state arts body to help us run the 2024 and 2025 programs.

Due careful fiscal management we were able to deliver our 2024 program without interruption, but the withdrawal of state support has put the NEWC at risk.

We are currently unable to run our annual competitions. Please be assured that we are working behind the scenes to find a resolution. Thank you for your continued support.

Welcome to the seventh New England Illustration Prize for Children's Picture Book Publishing.

We invite illustrators resident in any part of Australia, and at any stage of their careers, to create a colour illustration suitable for a children’s picture book.

This annual, nationally recognised prize garners a great deal of interest from the industry and several of our winners have been awarded contracts with major publishers, and continue to make careers as well known children's  book illustrators.
