What is a wish?
Picture
When we are young, we
Wish we were older
When we are old, we
Wish for youth.

People say, 'I wish I did things differently'
No. We wouldn't be who we are
Without sacrifices made.
Birthday candles. Make a Wish.
Does it come true?
Why? Who first did this?

Wish upon a falling star
Why? When it is falling?
I wish that I was you.
Why? You will never be someone else
Our stories are so different
Our sense of self is what we create.

I wish for world Peace
Ha! Ha! Man is too greedy!

I wish for endless
Possibilities...

The Story of My Story
Where do I begin and where will it end?

Will it be volumes and volumes of places I have been, people I have met, the love that I felt, the home I have known?

Or will it be a library, full of what ifs, maybes, could I, would I, should I, have done it?

What if I had stopped to smell the sweet scent of every blood red rose made my eyes smile with joy. Have I planted my garden plentifully enough to sustain my son, the love of my life, long enough to become a little speck in the beautiful night sky?

How do I know my story will be received with love and respect?

Or should I even care?
Picture
After all, my story is my story, and only I can create the words to fill the pages, to turn the pages into chapters, and make the chapters into books.

Do I want enough books to fill a library? Well, that's another story.

Not in my journal
Not in the photos
They are deep inside me
I'm in them
I swim in their stream
And they flow along with me.

Our newborn daughters -
Sticky, and comfortable
ALIVE! on my tummy

There -
Barefoot in that long
Cheese-cloth dress,
We are travelling the trains
to the Proms -
With our cushions
Under our arms.

Don't tell me your dreams
explode
create
live
be
act
      ride on a cloud
free
                 see the world from above
new view
perspective
freedom
breathe
                      live
